A cross between a hatchet and conventional axe, this pack axe is designed to be lightweight, compact, and easy to carry while trekking through the wilderness. The Journeyman is the perfect all-purpose companion for the backpacker, camper, or woodsman. The butt end, opposite to the blade, can be used for light hammering and is perfect for striking in tent stakes. Helko Natural Axe Sharpening Stone
Before man-made composite grinding stones, naturally occurring “Made by Nature” stone was used to hone and sharpen metal tools and weapons.
Overtime some stones where known to have better sharpening qualities than others and became prized items.  Many of these prized stone sources have long been forgotten, however, we have carefully sourced our natural axe sharpening stone from a small historic quarry in the nordic country of Finland.

Helko Traditional Black Forest Woodworker 1250g
This realtively new axe is a slightly bigger version of our iconic 1000g Woodworker. With a slightly heavier head weight (1250g) and longer (70cm) handle, this axe gives a bit more when you need it, while still retaining its compact size. The Rhineland pattern head allows the axe to perform exceptionally well as a cutting tool, while still being able to handle moderate splitting work. Comes with our standard top grain cowhide leather adjustable sheath.

Helko Werk Traditional US Double Bit Felling Axe
Few axes are more iconic than the American ‘Double Bit’. Double bit felling axes spread across America during the 19th century when the logging industry was still reliant on axes for felling trees.
Traditionally, one bit was used for heavy work that was prone to dull the blade, while the other had a finely-honed edge and kept in reserve for fine cutting. The beauty of double bit axes is that the user has the option to profile each blade differently. May use one edge for splitting and the other for cutting.
